3. KL Rahul
Although he has debuted under Dhoni, yet he got to play a lot of matches under Kohli. Despite scoring a century in his second Test against Australia, he had to go through a lots of ups and downs.
Rahul has scored 2061 runs from 62 innings at an average of 35 under Kohli’s consistency. In the 2015 tour of Sri Lanka, apart from getting a century, Rahul could not even manage to get a double figure score in five Test innings.
Since November 2017, the batsman has scored 452 in 20 Test innings and out of those, 228 runs came in just two innings. In the South Africa tour, Rahul managed to get just 30 in four opportunities.
Even in the England tour, he scored just 150 runs in the first nine innings but paid his captain’s faith by scoring 149 in the fifth Test which almost won the game for India.
Rahul has played nine ODIs under Kohli and has scored just 61 runs at an average of 9. Despite these inconsistencies and failures, because of Kohli’s trust on Rahul, he gets to feature a lot in the side.
