2. KL Rahul (Kings XI Punjab)
Punjab had retained only one player before the auction began and hence had a big amount in their purse which he spent on a few players and KL Rahul was one of them.
Many had thought RCB would use their RTM card for Rahul, but Punjab bid so heavily and spent Rs. 11 crore and left no other option for RCB than to leave him.
But he was more than worthy than his price as he scored 659 runs in just 14 innings with an average of 54.91 and strike rate of 158.41.
Having started the season with the IPL history’s fastest half-century from just 14 balls, he was the stand-out batsman for Punjab all throughout the season.
