2. Uday Joshi – Indian-American
The Indian off-spinner was one of the important members of his domestic teams during his time. Apart from playing for his home state Gujarat, Joshi had played for Railways and Saurashtra.
He also went to England to play for Sussex. Having played 186 matches, Joshi went on to pick 557 wickets. It is said that he almost made it to the Indian national team.
But just like Wilmot, Joshi was also found out to be a paedophile. He was accused of molesting a 13-year-old in August 1979. However the verdict of that charge came out just seven years ago. According to the verdict, Joshi was sentenced to six-years of imprisonment.
However just like Roebuck, the decision came as shocking. This is because Joshi was respected very much among his peers. Even former English cricketers like Tony Greig and Jim Parks claimed that Joshi is innocent and he is been framed.
1. Rubel Hossain – Bangladesh
The Bangladeshi cricketer is one of the most recognized faces in the recent international cricket. He led the pace department of his country for many years in the past.
But things changed when Bangladeshi actress Nazneen Akter Happy accused Rubel of raping her. She said that Rubel had promised to marry her and used that promise to have sex with her. In Bangladesh this thing amounts to rape.
As a result of the accusation, Rubel was kept in police custody for three days. But as the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup was approaching, he was granted bail. Rubel decided to solve his personal problems through his professional work.
Because of his inspirational spell against England, Happy’s lawyer Dulal Dey decided to drop the case. He said that the boy from Khulna had brought pride to the country. As a result Dulal felt that Rubel should not feel any pressure.
