MI bagged Rohit after the latter became the emerging player of 2009 IPL. In 2011, Rohit cost MI a whooping 9.2 crore INR but soon became one of the best signings of MI. Until 2013, MI had never won an IPL trophy. But things changed when Rohit took over the captaincy in 2013.
Till date MI has four IPL titles and all of them came under the captaincy of Rohit. Besides captaincy, Rohit is also excellent with the bat. He has so far played 143 matches for MI and has scored over 3,700 runs with an average of 32.
His 26-ball fifty in the 2015 IPL final against CSK handed him the ‘Player of the Match’ award. However the 2017 and 2018 seasons were worst for Rohit. Even in 2019, he averaged less than 30 and struck at less than 130. However he is still the third highest run-getter of the league. Also he has the highest ‘Man of the Match’ awards among Indians in IPL.
Jasprit Bumrah

Perhaps the best signings of MI in their entire history is Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. He was scouted by John Wright during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. Instantly in 2013 auctions, Bumrah was bought for just 10 lakhs INR.
Bumrah’s pace and extraordinary bowling action is what impressed Wright. During the 2013-15 seasons, Bumrah wasn’t that effective. However he kept on learning and in 2016 he showed his true colors. He even debuted for the national team also. He can remain calm in tense situations and his pin-point yorkers are deadly.
Currently the 25-year-old is an indispensable member of both MI and India. He can bowl during the slog overs and also can provide breakthroughs during the middle overs. In the 2019 IPL final, he finished with figures of 4-0-19-2. This earned him the award of ‘Man of the Match’.
