The buzz of the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) season is gaining with each passing day. The franchises have already started to work on their combinations for the upcoming season.
They had already submitted the list of retained and released players on November 14. Now they have again freed some players from their services by selecting 346 players out of more than 1000 for the auction.
The auction will take place on Tuesday, December 18 in Jaipur. Among the list of 346 players, which was released today by the IPL governing council, a total of 227 players are Indians.
There are nine players who are also known as marquee players. Their base price begins from INR 2 crore. Among the Indian players, pacer Jaydev Unadkat has the highest base price of INR 1.2 crore.

The auction will be a massive extravaganza
Previously the auctions were held in Mumbai and Bangalore. But this time Jaipur will host it and it will be their maiden occasion. Richard Madley had been the auctioneer since the inaugural of the tournament in 2008.
But this year he has been replaced by Hugh Edmeades. The new auctioneer is an independent fine art, classic car and charity auctioneer. He has huge experience in this field.
The venue for the next season’s tournament has still not been decided. The General Elections in India will be held in the month of April and May. Hence the tournament might be shifted to South Africa of United Arab Emirates (UAE). Most of the franchises have voted the latter as their first preference.
Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are the most successful in the history of the tournament. Both of them have won the trophy thrice.
The franchises will have to be extra careful during the auction. This is because they have to keep in mind that the next year’s World Cup will begin after the IPL concludes. The 2019 World Cup will be played in England and Wales.
