5. Pranav Dhanawade’s 1000+ runs

If you are an ardent fan of cricket, then the name of Pranav Dhanawade will definitely ring a bell. He is the first to score more than 1000 runs in an innings and also the highest scorer in recognized cricket.

This incident happened during a Bhandari Cup game in Mumbai between KC Gandhi English School and Arya Gurukul. Batting first, Arya Gurukul put on only 31 runs in 17 overs on the scoreboard. In reply, KC Gandhi scored 1465 runs for 3 wickets at 15.58 runs an over.

Pranav remained unbeaten on 1009 runs off 327 balls. KC Gandhi’s other two batsmen Aakash Singh and Siddhesh Patil also scored centuries. In the second innings, Arya Gurukul scored only 52 runs in 14.5 overs. Eight of their batsmen got out for a duck. As a result KC Gandhi won the game by an innings and 1382 runs.

This strange incident left all the viewers stare at the scorecard in disbelief. It was the quarterfinal game of Ranji Trophy between Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh in 2014. Karnataka batted first and scored 349 from 100.5 overs.

Three batsmen in the likes of Robin Uthappa, Karun Nair and CM Gautham scored centuries. However all the three players got out exactly on 100. On the other hand, there were five batsmen who got out for a duck.
