The South Africa National Cricket Team has moved upward to the No. 1 rank One-Day International team in ICC’s rankings after they thumped Sri Lanka by 88 runs in the fifth and final ODI in Centurion to win the series 5-0.

The Australia National Cricket Team were in the top on One-Day International in ICC’s rankings, but after winning the series by 5-0 against Sri Lanka, the South Africa National Cricket back at the top of the ICC ODI Team Rankings.

It’s all began, when Australia fell to a 2-0 series loss against New Zealand last week, which cost them to lose two points and joined South Africa on 118 points. However, the Australia National Cricket Team are still ahead on decimal points, but with South Africa winning the last two games of the series against Sri Lanka, they have moved up to 119 points to scale the summit of rankings.

And after winning the series by 5-0 against Sri Lanka, the South Africa international and skipper AB de Villiers has shown his excitement to be back at the top of the ICC ODI Team Rankings.

As in a recent interview AB de Villiers said, “We are excited to be back at the top of the ICC ODI Team Rankings. We have had some trials since the World Cup two years ago but have worked hard to rebuild and to gain some form and consistency in this format,” 

“It’s an important year for us with the ICC Champions Trophy in June and regaining the No.1 position is a step in the right direction for our preparation ahead of the event. It’s a tight contest at the top so it’ll be important for us to continue putting in the performances so that we can hold onto the position,” he added.
