Pakistan Cricketer Azhar Ali Runs Himself Out In a Bizarre Way

The second Test between Pakistan and Australia are currently underway in the Abu Dhabi stadium where the hosts are currently dominating.

Cricket news: Azhar was batting well on 64 when this bizarre incident happened

After bundling out the visitors for just 145 runs, Pakistan had got a real chance of clinching this Test. However they have made some silly mistakes on the field which could cost them the game.

The most bizarre and silly mistake came on the morning of the third day of the game when a naïve approach from Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq led to the run-out of the former.

It was the 53rd over of the innings and the bowler was Peter Siddle, who bowled a length delivery. Azhar edged it past the gully fielder and both the batsmen stopped in the middle of the crease presuming that the ball would go on eventually to hit the boundary ropes.

The batsmen started chatting with each other and also showed some glove-love. But in the meantime the ball had actually not reached the boundary and had stopped a couple of yards inside.

Mitchell Starc fielded the ball and threw it straight to the wicketkeeper Tim Paine, who dislodged the bails easily and started celebrating with the fellow Aussies which left the batsmen surprised.

They had no idea what was going on in the field and got to know it when the replays confirmed the incident. Azhar, who was batting well on 64, had to depart.

Mickey Arthur, the coach of Pakistan, was not at all pleased with the incident and was seen shaking his head frustratingly. Pakistan had always been known to throw away good situations and Azhar had done it in a casual way.

Here is the video of the incident:

Pakistan had an overnight lead of 281 runs and had thought of batting Australia out of the game. However overnight batsmen Haris Sohail and Azhar Ali were dismissed early. Australia would be hoping to pick the remaining wickets to mount a comeback in Dubai.
