New Zealand also wants to host the IPL after Sri Lanka and Dubai: BCCI Official

New Zealand also joined the race with Sri Lanka and Dubai to host the cash-rich tournament Indian Premier League on their soil for this season, this season because of Pandemic Ipl got postponed, but the BCCI is still hoping to conduct the tournament in the other country in case it cannot be held in India due to rising cases of Corona Virus.

The T20 world cup postpones announcement is imminent which was to be held in the month of October till November and BCCI are targeting that time frame to conduct the Indian Premier League.

BCCI wishes to conduct the Indian Premier League in India, but due to the rising cases of 25000+ every day, India is now in the third rank behind Brazil and the USA in this Corona Virus Pandemic.

 A BCCI official said:

“Staging the event in India has to be the first choice but in  case it is not safe to have it , then we will look at the overseas options. After UAE, Sri Lanka, now New Zealand  has also offered  to host the IPL.”.

“We will sit down with all stakeholders (broadcaster, teams, etc) and take a call, the safety of the players is Paramount. There will be no comparison on that.”

In the race UAE is leading to conduct the tournament if it shifts to overseas, Sri Lanka will be cost-effective in terms of venue, and though New Zealand is a COVID Free country but faces feasibility issues.
