Cricket news: The debut season of APL has been a huge success and has unearthed many talents

The Balk Legends ultimately proved the better of the lot but most importantly the motto of the league – to unearth hidden talents in the country – has been definitely fulfilled.

The experienced players took their game to a different level while the raw talent got the chance to rub their shoulders with their seniors and ultimately produced their best throughout the entire tournament.

With the upcoming World Cup 2019, the league has given Afghan cricket a lot of options to explore as the young Afghans, mostly aged between 16 to 25, have learnt a lot from the tournament.

Here is the list of best XI players from the tournament and it is mostly dominated by the players from Afghanistan.

1. Chris Gayle – Balkh Legends

Gayle took some time in the opening of the tournament scoring just 20, 20 and 12 from his first three matches, taking the aggregate score to 52 with an average of just above 17.

But as the tournament progressed, he showed his original form and scored four consecutive half-centuries with scores of 80, 73, 54 and 56.

He was crucial in the semi-final and the final and helped his team with the inaugural title. He was the tournament’s third highest run-scorer scoring 315 runs from 7 innings at an average of 45.
