JHARKHAND TO BE GUIDED BY DHONI IN BUCHI BABU MEET

Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is assigned in his first official recruitment as a mentor to guide Jharkhand in All India Buchi Babu Invitation Tournament, scheduled to start from August 5 in Chennai.

India’s limited overs skipper is in his first official work to guide the state of Jharkhand in the tournament. He is being considered as a great strategist and motivator in the nation as well as in overseas.

The association made the announcement on Tuesday that India will be playing two Twenty20 matches against West Indies at the end of this month. The decision of the association  may have influenced Dhoni to take the charge as a mentor in the upcoming tournament.

The far-sighted skipper will be in practice with the Jharkhand team to be fit for the international games. Since the tour of Zimbabwe, Dhoni did not play any competitive match while the national team is off to play against the Caribbeans under the leadership of Virat Kohli.

The 39-years-old’s international experience will be a great help for the Jharkhand team. Dhoni played 278 ODIs and 90 Test matches till date.

“Dhoni will be mentoring Jharkhand in the tournament and is likely to arrive in Chennai on August 10. He will not be playing though,” said Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) secretary, K.S. Viswanathan.

S. Badrinath, who shared dressing room with Dhoni both for India and in Indian Premiere League said, “Having played the game across all formats for India for such a long time, Dhoni is apt for the role of mentor,” he said. “He knows how to remain calm under pressure and how one can raise his game during crunch situations. His experience and knowledge of the game will surely be a big boost for a team that he is mentoring.”
