SRI LANKA vs AUSTRALIA, 2nd TEST, DAY 2: THE AUSSIES REQUIRES 388 RUNS

Australia requires 388 runs to get the game in day three of the second test match

 

 

In the second innings Sri Lanka managed to score a sum of 237 runs in 59.3 overs at the cost of 10 wickets. Openers were not at all appreciable as Kaushal Silva and Dimuth Karunaratne went back to the pavilion for 2 and 7 runs respectively. Dilruwan Perera with a strike-rate of 71.91 single-handedly made 64 runs off 89 balls smashing 7 boundaries and 2 sixes, bowled by Mitchell Starc, had to leave the crease. 47 runs came out of the bat of skipper Angelo Mathews with 5 boundaries adding under his name. Kusal Perera and Dhananjaya de Silva scored 35 and 34 respectively.

Mitchell Starc proved to be devastating for the Sri Lankan batsmen, picking 6 wickets in 12.3 overs providing 50 runs to his rivals. Nathan Lyon plucked 2 wickets, where as Josh Hazlewood and Jon Holland gained single wickets each.

 

Australia, on the other hand did not get enough overs to play, but Sri Lankans showed their talent in bowling. David Warner, 22* with a strike-rate of 122.22 still on crease with skipper Steven Smith who managed to score a single off 6 balls. The Kangaroos lost 3 wickets within the first six overs and requires 388 runs to grab the game.

Sri Lankan bowlers could be termed as better if compared to batting. Dilruwan Perera picked 2 wickets where as Rangana Herath plucked a single man. Both the bowlers bowled 3 overs each.
