At the end of the first day Sri Lankan team lined up a score of 214 runs losing 5 of their vital wickets. Dhananjaya de Silva currently starring for his team with an undefeated runs of 116 after smashing 16 boundaries with a strike rate of 48.33, he is in a full form to save Sri Lankan team from getting doomed. Standing on the other side is keeper Dinesh Chandimal helping de Silva in every aspect. He too on the crease with an unbeaten 64 runs. The duo if challenged, can take up the score to a great height. Awaited and celebrated batsmen could not keep up the expectations of the game-lovers, Kaushal Silva was sent back for a duck, captain Angelo Mathews and Kusal Mendis scored a single run respectively where as Kusal Perera had to leave the crease for 16 and Dimuth Karunaratne was bowled on 7.

 

Mitchell Starc grabbed the game for the Aussies as he alone had sent three of the finest batsmen of his rivals to pavillion, his efforts were assisted by his mate Nathan Lyon who dismissed two of the Sri Lankan players.
