JUSTICE KATJU TO HEAD BCCI PANEL FOR REFORMATIONS.

Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) is left with six months time to  change the structure of Association as it is out forward by Lodha Panel.

The Supreme Court declared a deadline to amend the structure of BCCI.The reforms were put forward by Lodha Panel and BCCI has got only six moths time in hand.

Retired Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju is to lead BCCI in terms of reformation process. Supreme Court verdict was that of
one-state-one-vote policy to be maintained by BCCI, no member of the board should exceed the age of 70 years and government officials will not be allowed to take charges in the board, not even in the lowest level. These were the orders to the association by Supreme Court.

BCCI found it very difficult to implement the suggesitions given by
Lodha panel, that is why they recruited experienced judge Markandey Katju for guidance and to look into the matter.

“The members were in one voice of the view that the recommendations were complex and would involve large-scale changes to be implemented across the board. Many technical and legal aspects were likely to come up in the future. Considering the complexities of the issue, it was unanimously decided that a panel headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court assisted by three eminent counsels be formed.” BCCI stated on monday
