Rohit Sharma Updates about Fitness of Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The three-match ODI series between India and England is set to begin on Thursday and the first match will be played at Nottingham.

Cricket news: Bhuvneshwar had missed the final T20I against England due to back injury

The top two ODI ranked teams will fight it among themselves to prove who the best is at present. The visiting team has already proved their mettle by winning the series of the shortest format.

They will love to carry the momentum into the ODI series as well but they are currently facing some grave concerns over the fitness of their ace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Bhuvi had not played the T20I series decider game on Sunday due to an injury to his back. He was apparently replaced by Siddarth Kaul, who fared decently in the game.

But ODI cricket is totally a different genre and India will start as an underdog if they miss their new-ball bowler. Moreover the injury of Jasprit Bumrah has already dent a huge blow to the hopes of the Men in Blue.

In the pre-match press conference, Indian batsman Rohit Sharma said that the physio is looking after Bhuvi and he was apparently fine and ready to play the match, but has not given full assurance.

“Bhuvi has obviously come here to train and he’s going to see how the net session goes for him. He’s going to try and bowl and see how he feels. Obviously, the physio and the captain will take the call later once he finishes his training sessions but he looks fine to me as of now. So hopefully he will be ready to take the field tomorrow,” Rohit said when one of the reporters asked Bhuvi’s chances of taking on the field in the first match.

The whole Indian management is currently praying for Bhuvi’s early recovery or else the bowling department will seriously lack experience in demanding conditions. If Bhuvneshwar Kumar is deemed unfit, Siddarth Kaul is the likeliest bowler to replace him in the squad.
