Virat Kohli’s Childhood Coach Believes Kohli Would Play until 40 Years

The entire cricket fraternity was shocked to hear when Indian star batsman Virat Kohli said that he had ‘a few years left’ in his career ‘to enjoy the sport’.

Cricket news: The 29-year-old is just 81 runs away from completing 10,000 ODI runs

The statement was made just after the skipper led his side to an emphatic victory against the Windies in the first ODI. Kohli himself contributed in the chase by scoring his 36th ODI century.

However his fans were taken aback when Kohli made that statement that he had only a few years to play his favourite sport. Many had started thinking that Kohli might have started his retirement plans and might make them effective after the 2019 World Cup.

The batsman is in the prime form of his career and is dominating the world of cricket with his willow in every venue against any opposition. It would be a pity to see him retire at such a young age as he has the ability to go past every record and achieve every milestone.

However all these topics were put to rest by Kohli’s childhood coach as he said that the statement should not be taken seriously. Rajkmuar Sharma, Kohli’s childhood coach, said that Kohli will play until the age of 40 as fitness will never be an issue for him.

“I don’t think he wanted to say a few years. You be assured. You will see him playing for India for the next 10 years. He will not retire before the age of 40 as his appetite to make runs will not satiate before that,” Sharma said as per BD Crictime. “He did not want to say that. He wanted to say that he has 5-7 years left to play the game. He is not going anywhere for the next 10 years. There is no injury concern to him,” he added.

Earlier this year the cricketing fraternity was shocked by the retirement of AB de Villiers, who is the teammate of Kohli from Royal Challengers Bangalore. The fact that he was just 34 years old and totally fit during retirement shocked everyone.

De Villiers mentioned that the excessive pressure had resulted in his losing the desire to play the next year’s World Cup. However there are reports circulating that De Villiers might break his retirement and come back to represent his country in the 201 World Cup.
