Playing XI for Third Test at Trent Bridge Announced By England

England have once again announced their squad for the third Test in the five-match Test series to be played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham from August 18.

Cricket news: Sam Curran misses a spot while Ben Stokes is included in the side

The young promising Sam Curran have been left out of the squad to accommodate Ben Stokes who has been cleared of all the charges of his involvement in the brawl which happened in Bristol in September last year.

Sam Curran was the Man of the Match at Edgbaston for his all-round performances and even skipper Joe Root was gutted to leave out the promising all-rounder from the playing XI.

The hosts will be itching to clinch the series against their low on confidence visitors. The rest of the lineup looks similar which had played in the Lord’s Test.

However the batsmen need to perform as their poor shows have still now been covered by the all-rounders. Sam Curran helped in the first Test while Chris Woakes scored an unbeaten century at Lord’s.

Sam Curran must be dejected with the decision as he had played a match-winning knock at Edgbaston.

He provided with the first knock in the first innings when Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan were looking comfortable at 50/0 and even lifted his team’s innings with a half-century in the second innings when they were down at 87/7.

Stokes now has to perform well as a promising player has been sacrificed because of him. He has performed well with the ball and now has to show his class with the bat too.

Here’s England’s playing XI: Alastair Cook, Keaton Jennings, Joe Root (c), Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Stuart Brod, James Anderson
