Cricket news: Kohli even spoke to me in Marathi, says Prithvi Shaw

He was included in the team ahead of Mayank Agarwal and he opened the innings for the hosts alongside KL Rahul. Shaw was part of the last two Tests against England, but did not get his chance to play which he got in the series opener at Rajkot.

Before the match began, he was being interviewed about how he was bonding with the guys in the team. Shaw said that skipper Virat Kohli had made him very relaxed and has even tried to speak in Marathi with him so that he felt right at home.

“I think he is a really funny guy off the field. On the field, we all know he is very tough. I just spoke to him he cracked some jokes, he was just trying to speak Marathi which was really funny,” Prithvi told ‘bcci.tv’. “He (Virat) helped me out and made me feel comfortable.”

When asked about his approach towards his first international Test, he shared his feelings openly before approaching the senior level.

“I have no plan (in nets) I just went with a blank mind. I don’t like to get out when I am batting in the nets. I had a throwdown session with Sanjay Bangar, everything was good in practice,” he mentioned.

Shaw is currently 18-years-old, but has done wonders at domestic level at this age. However he admitted that he is nervous and have few butterflies in the belly before playing in the senior level, which is understandable for every individual before the big game.

“I am feeling very good, a bit nervous, but when I came to the dressing room everyone like…over here there is no senior and junior Virat bhai and Ravi sir told me, and it felt really nice, “he said. “Ravi sir told me to enjoy the game, he said ‘play the way you play in Ranji trophy and the way you have been playing all these years’. Getting the Test cap is a great feeling.”
