Positives and Negatives of India from 1st ODI against the Windies

4. The absence of a sixth bowling option

The first ODI has shown India’s lack of alternative options ad Kohli had to rotate and go on with his five regular bowlers, who were thumped to every corner of the ground.

This is a serious issue for the team ahead of the World Cup 2019 as all other international team has an option of a sixth bowler. Batsmen like Dhawan, KL Rahul and Manish Pandey do not bowl while Rohit and Kohli prefer not to bowl fearing of getting injured.

Currently India only has only two options of a sixth bowler in the likes of Suresh Raina and Kedar Jadhav. While Raina is not preferred of late, Jadhav though not being a bowler has shown his abilities to bowl in the Asia Cup. However his only problem is that he is too much injury prone.
