Lynn Comments on His Injury and Batting

The Australian big-hitter Chris Lynn was not selected for the national team for the upcoming tours of the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe, as it was stated that he was not fit to make the national side.

VIVO IPL 2018: I am not 100 percent fit but it will not affect my batting: Chris Lynn

The 28-year-old is currently playing for the franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League.

He is currently having some trouble with a dodgy shoulder but he said that he is having enough freedom with his batting and is currently fulfilling his team’s expectations.

“I was probably a little bit nervous and apprehensive early on but of late I can bat with freedom. I’ve showed that in the last couple of innings in small glimpses.

“I am certainly not 100 per cent. For me batting is not an issue at all, that’s first and foremost priority. On the field, I am not fielding at the positions that I want to field in,” Lynn was caught saying to the media on the day before the match against Mumbai Indians.

Lynn has played all the 10 matches for KKR and has scored 277 runs at an average of 30.77 with a strike rate of 133.81.

His injury is in the left shoulder and he is limited in his ability to throw the dominant arm. Lynn is also given instructions not to dive, as in the recent years he had injured both his shoulders while diving.

“I’m a little bit restricted there. But at the end of the day, if I score more runs then I’m doing my job. Batting is priority. I think a big score is just round the corner,” said Lynn.

Kolkata were defeated by Mumbai in the first-leg match two days ago, which stretched Mumbai’s win to an unbeaten seven matches, as KKR had last won against Mumbai in 2015. In total Mumbai have won 17 of the21 matches they have played against Kolkata in all the 11 seasons.

Lynn commented on his team’s defeat in the first-leg match. He said, “They got the better of us in Mumbai and we would definitely be looking to get one back. If we take our foot off the throat, we can find ourselves very quickly out of the competition. We want to make sure we are out there in the finals, making a run for the Cup.”

Mumbai have revived their current season on the shoulder of two back-to-back wins. Mumbai batsman Jean-Paul Duminy thinks that although his team have a better record against Kolkata, yet he would prefer to live in the present.

“There’s (only) one way to go and play best cricket with our backs against the wall. You can try duck and dive, and shy away from the pressure. What’s been great about our team that we stood up and recognised that we need to take the responsibility and change the fortunes around.

“The manner we have played our cricket in a few days epitomised the brand of cricket we play and that’s aggressive one. We take the bull by the horns. We obviously want to try and win every game from here on.”

“It’s a fresh game, a fresh start. We can’t be living in the past or past success. We want to make sure what challenge lies in front of us. KKR would like to come back fighting. They are also in a position where they would want to win. We want to make sure we are smart, clinical in executing our skills.”

JP Duminy also praised his teammate Hardik Pandya on his recent performance as he has scalped 14 wickets from nine matches.

“He’s been an exceptional talent. One of those who backs himself in pressure moments. He’s a pressure moment player who stand up and execute to the best of his ability,” concluded Duminy.
