Murali Vijay has been replaced by Shikhar Dhawan for the upcoming test series against Sri Lanka starting from 26th of July, since he is out of practice for long the board don’t want to take any risk for the same

The Tamil Nadu right hander has not played competitive cricket after he got his wrist injured during the Australia series which the team won the series by 2-1, Vijay got out of the squad after he was being injured during the practice session and after than he was not seen playing since long

“Vijay, who had suffered a wrist injury during Australia’s tour of India, has complained of pain in his right wrist, while playing a preparatory match,” the Indian cricket board (BCCI) said in a statement on Monday.

“The BCCI medical team has therefore advised that Vijay should continue his rehabilitation program.”

India will be playing 3 Tests, 5 ODIs & a t20 match during the tour which really seems to be a long tour for the squad and the team members need to remain fit all throughout the series

Shikhar Dhawan last played a test was against New Zealand at the Eden Gardens Kolkata during the home tour and that too in the month of October 2016, during the series he scored 1 & 17 runs respectively and after that he didn’t feature for the Australia and England series.

Following the end of the series, Vijay revealed that he was playing with a fractured wrist that required surgery. “I couldn’t play certain shots and when I went out to bat, I had to grind it out. It was difficult to even defend off the front foot because it was my bottom hand that was injured,” Vijay said. The injury forced him to miss the IPL 2017 and the Champions Trophy.
