Bangladesh Wicketkeeper Congratulates Kohli for Reaching To 10,000 ODI Runs

Mushfiqur Rahim, the wicketkeeper-batsman from Bangladesh recently congratulated Indian skipper Virat Kohli for entering the elite club of batsmen by scoring 10,000 ODI runs.

Cricket runs: Kohli reached from 9,000 runs to 10,000 runs in a span of 11 innings

Kohli had scored 140 runs in the first ODI against the Windies, and he was expected to score 81 runs, which was required to reach the milestone of 10K in the second ODI at Visakhapatnam.

India won the toss and elected to bat first and the skipper had to come out in the middle early once again as both the openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma did not last long.

Kohli then started to repair the innings with No. 4 batsman Ambati Rayudu. Although he started his innings cautiously, he soon started taking big hits after reaching his half-century.

He proved virtually unstoppable as he picked up yet another century, his 37th ODI ton, and eventually remained unbeaten on 157, which is his third highest score in ODIs.

But the historic moment came in the 37th over when he took a single off Ashley Nurse’s delivery as he marched into the 10K club and did so with insane numbers. He beat the previous record holder Sachin Tendulkar by a big margin of 54 innings.

Moreover it took Virat exact 11 innings to reach the 10K mark from 9K mark and thus he became the fastest man to reach the coveted milestone, all that in just 205 innings.

Countless wishes started to pour in from all around the world and veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim also took to Twitter to congratulate Kohli. He wrote, “Congratulations to one and only sir virat kohli for reaching 10k runs in the blink of an eye.”
