Kuldeep Creates History by Breaking Record of Afridi

India’s chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has been in an excellent form since the beginning of the tour as he was the leading wicket-taker with seven wickets from two matches against Ireland.

Cricket news: He is the first left-arm spinner to create this record

He was also India’s prime bowler in the first T20I match against England at Old Trafford in Manchester as he destroyed the Brits’ batting line-up securing five wickets in the match.

In the second match in Cardiff he could not get any wickets and was side-lined for the final series-decider game at Bristol.

Kuldeep again went to his destructive form in the first ODI at Trent Bridge in Nottingham as he recorded his masterful spell of 10-0-25-6 and entirely destroyed the English batsmen with his guile and trajectory.

During the match he surpassed the record of Pakistani spinner Shahid Afridi who previously held the best bowling figures in an ODI on English soil which has figures of 6-1-11-5.

Afridi had recorded that spectacular feat in 2004 ICC Champions Trophy against Kenya at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Kuldeep started his six-fer with the wicket of England opener Jason Roy, who had attempted a reverse-sweep but failed to connect and holed out to Umesh Yadav.

In his next over, both Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow fell prey to Kuldeep’s tweaker as both were trapped in front of the wicket.

England again found a commanding platform thanks to the 93 runs partnership between Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes, but it ended at the hands of Kuldeep as Buttler got out for 53 runs.

Stokes tried to break the hold of Kuldeep and attempted a big shot but his mistimed shot fell into the hands of Siddarth Kaul, which handed Kuldeep his five-wicket haul.

Kuldeep reached his magical figures of six-fer when he took the wicket of David Willey in his final over of his spell.
