The way we played, we do not deserve to be in the semi-finals: Nelo Vingada

The Portuguese and Northeast United’s head coach Nelo Vingada is so disappointed after the three consecutive home losses as they were beaten 0-1 at home by Mumbai City FC on 5th Nov and went down to the bottom half of the Indian Super League (ISL) table.

After Saturday’s match against Mumbai City FC, NorthEast United were beaten for the third straight time in ISL 2016 and the head coach Vingada was so uncomfortable with the result and he feels like Northeast don't deserve to be in the semis. The Professor was so frustrated with the result as Vingada said that he cannot look at this team and tell that is his my team.

As Vingada said after the match,

"It was not only a bad result but we were not in the race even when we did create some chances. I look for the team tonight and the responsibility is mine. I cannot look at this team and tell that this is my team. We have undone all that we have created in the last month,"

"We cannot lose the way in the manner we did today. It was more than three points lost. My pride and the players' pride is breached. The pushing and all, this is not the football we want. We recieved yellow cards for nothing. Playing the way we played, we don't deserve to be in the semi-finals," he added.

Northeast 'keeper Welligton Lima Gomes lost control of the ball in his own box as Sony Norde bumped the ball from behind and the Indian ace Jackichand Sing has made no mistake to score the only goal of the match.
On which Vingada said “We presented this defeat to ourselves”.
Vingada added,

"I regret it (the goal). Welligton was also my player in Portugal and I tell them to kick it out as soon as the ball reaches the last man. Mistakes happen and now he will be marked (remembered) only for this mistake but we want to move forward. I personally don't feel comfortable and happy. We presented this defeat to ourselves."

The passionate Highlanders fans were also looks so disappointed as majority of fans left the stadium before the last whistle, which made the Proffesor, went to the extent of apologizing to the fans,

"The fans deserve more than we gave them. I cannot say my players did not put up a fight. Some players are crying in the dressing room, especially Welligton," he expressed.

"This happens with great goalkeepers too. A few weeks ago the Barcelona 'keeper (Marc-Andre Ter Stegen) did something similar. In football, you can never lose your dignity and today we did not do all the things that we could have done to keep our pride intact," Vingada said.

On the suspension of Emiliano Alfaro, the star striker of Hero ISL 2016 for The Highlander's next tie against FC Goa away.

"He is out and we cannot help much. One of them he took for the team and twice the referee's decision came into play. Today he dived and I don't want to talk about it. In the next match, hopefully some players shall recover. Nicolas Velez should come back. Most teams are facing the same situation and I want players who play giving it their all."

And lastly the 63-year-old Portuguese man concluded with a frustrating statement,

He said,

“If I can, I will lock myself in the room as I don't feel comfortable."
