KKR STILL TO PLAY THE BEST SHOT OF THE LEAGUE: KALLIS

With 187 runs on board the players and the team were very much confident for a win in their home town which resulted into a disastrous loss caused by Raina and company

But the former South Arican all rounder Kallis said that KKR is not playing up to their potentials as they can perform, because they are very talented and if they give their best they will definitely fetch good results

“Every player has got his place. Some can rotate strike, some can hit big. Raina is a good all-round player,” Kallis said while praising the left-hander. “I don’t think we bowled as well to him as we could have done and should have done. When good players get off to a good start, it’s difficult to contain them. Raina played really well to hold the innings together.”

While the head coach felt that his bowlers couldn’t quite pull out their best in order to stop Raina, he remained protective about his unit, brushing away any major reasons to worry. “We don’t become a bad bowling unit after just one game. We will have some good game plans in place,” Kallis said. “We knew they would come out firing. They are a dangerous side with dangerous players. They batted really well under pressure, chasing that total down. But I still feel we could have defended that total we got. It was certainly not one of our best bowling performances. We picked up a few wickets after the rain break. They managed to get a couple of partnerships going,” Kallis added.

Ahead of the big-ticket clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday which is already a sell-out at the venue, the veteran all-rounder turned coach pressed upon the need to be at their best to come up trumps against a buoyant RCB, who rode on a spectacular batting show from Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli the other night against Gujarat Lions. Kallis believed that his side’s best is still ahead of them and once they start ticking all the boxes, they would be a tough side to beat.

“We still have a lot of confidence. The boys are playing with freedom and playing well. We haven’t been able to put up a complete game so far, but when we start doing that we will be a tough side to beat,” Kallis said.
