In the first match of the I league 2017 EAST BENGAL FC drew their match against Mizoram based club Aizawl FC at Barasat Stadium.

The English coach of East Bengal FC Trevor Morgan cut an incoherent figure after his boys held drew their first match on the opening day of I LEAGUE 2017 against Aizawl FC.


The gaffer commented: "We did not play as a team. Willis (Plaza) and Ivan (Bukenya) don't even know the names of their teammates. I am satisfied with the point but not with the way we played,"


Willis Deon Plaza is a Trinidadian international who landed on Thursday at Kolkata after traveling around half the world  was substituted in the second half on that match as EAST BENGAL FC had concede one goal by the visitors.’


In that match the Red and Gold defender Gurwinder Singh scored an own goal after attempting to clear a shot from Stephane Kamo, but by mistake he put the ball into his own net.

In the dying minutes there was very drama as Aizawl FC decides to substitute the injured Bay and they decide to bring on Lalthakima but after that while Lalthakima was inside the pitch the Ivorian defender Bay wrongly got into the pitch again and Aizawl FC were with playing in the field.


The match official OP Thakur took stock of the state after the full time whistle though he shown a yellow card to Bayi.
