Kohli Says That Winning the Trent Bridge Test Is the Only Option

The Men in Blue is all geared up to face their fate in their upcoming third Test of the five-match Test series to be played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham from August 18.

Cricket news: The other players should take responsibility as well, urged the Indian skipper

Team India is 0-2 down in the series and their performance at Lord’s has dejected almost all cricket fans. A lot has been said in the media after the Lord’s Test as that performance has made it harder for the visitors to stage a comeback in the series.

The Indian batsmen need to perform now against the confident hosts who have once again named their playing XI 24 hours ahead of the match, which had shown Sam Curran to be replaced by Ben Stokes.

Team India skipper Virat Kohli was very vocal during the pre-match press conference as he said his men to not panic in this situation. He also said that adverse situations bring out the best in a person and in this must-win situation the team will also lit up.

“The only thing we have spoken of us is what the team requires at all times in this Test match. When your back is against the wall, you can’t afford to think of anything else.

“If you look at it from another point of view, it’s a good situation to be in because you literally have no room for thinking about anything else apart from what the team requires,” he said.

Kohli also pointed out the fact that the Test should be won to keep the series alive as if the Test is drawn, then the visitors would be left with choice of drawing the entire series rather than winning it.

“The only conversation we have had is that the only option is to win this Test and nothing else. You need to show that in your body language, in your intent and the way you go about things… it’s all about you feeling positive first. That is the conversation we have had in the last few days and like I said, it’s now up to the individuals to stand up and say I am going to go out there and make a difference,” the 29-year-old added.
