Modric deserve UEFA player of the year award ahead of Ronaldo: Ramos

Football News: UEFA player of the year award creates a stir this year with the Croatian international, But the Madrid captain backed up his teammate with the award.

Ramos believes Modric deserves that award over Ronaldo.

Los Blancos captain believes this year the Croatian international Luca Modric deserves to win the UEFA player of the year award ahead of the Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ramos believes last season Modric plays an instrumental role for Madrid in their Champions League glory, and that deserves him the award over Ronaldo.

Also, Modric’s performance in the world cup back up UEFA to make their decision, he led his team to their first ever world cup final this term, where they eventually lost it to France.

Portugal in the other hand lost it to Uruguay in the round of 16.

Ramos voiced: "There are few players that I am as proud of having in my team as [Modric],"

"He is a great friend and a great player. He is one of the few players who [if he wins] would make me as happy as if they had given it to me."
