Pujara Reveals His Plan about Batting in New Position

India’s Test specialist batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has recently voiced his thoughts about batting on the much dilemmatic No. 4 position of the Indian squad.

Cricket news: With even limited overs’ result, the Test series has become crucial

Pujara has recently been spending much time playing in the County Championship for Yorkshire and learning to adapt in the English surroundings.

He had played before and after the one-off historic Test against Afghanistan, and although he did not score too many runs yet his performance has been clinical for his preparations for the upcoming series.

The 30-year-old have batted at No. 3 for most of his career, but he took the ground at No. 4 in the previous two innings against South Africa in Johannesburg and against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.

Having to adapt to a new spot, he said, “Not a major difference because you are still batting at the top of the order, you still have the same job of scoring runs for the team. It was a one-off situation where the team combination was such that I had to change my position. There is still some difference but you still have to do the job for the team.”

It is by far a tricky English summer as the Men in Blue had succumbed to a 1-2 ODI loss after winning the T20I series. Now with the winnings evenly distributed, it is up to this upcoming five-match Test series which will decide the best among the rest.

The Indian top order has been consistent, but the middle order has been really unstable. The management had done some experiments but nothing seemed to be fruitful and hence reaching a suitable solution at the earliest is important.

The pacers will also have to deliver with wickets and step up to the occasion. As far the history of India with red ball in English conditions goes, it is not at all good, and hence Virat Kohli’s men will face an uphill task.
