The defending Champions India, who won the 2014 SAFF Women’s Championship, beating Nepal 6-0 in the final, will host what will be the fourth edition of the biennial international women’s football championship.
And India Women's Team are all set to take the Afghanistan side in the 2016 SAFF Women's Championship at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri, West Bengal at 06:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
As the former Indian international and the current head coach of India Women’s national team Sajid Dar commented the Indian side is all set to take three points against one of the strongest teams in the tournament,
when speaking to www.the-aiff.com Sajid said,
"We are well prepared and girls are raring to give it a go tomorrow”
"We need all three points tomorrow to kick start our campaign in the best possible way. Yes, it's true that we have enormous respect for them but that won't deter us to shy away from trying to clinch a win tomorrow.”
It is true that a good number of Afghani girls plays in the Europe, especially Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and the USA and according to the India head coach tomorrow's match will surely be a fierce one.
"I have heard about it and definitely, this Afghanistan outfit will be a hard nut to crack. We have our own strategies and we'll try to execute them on the field."
The former Indian international Sajid Dar also admitted that Indian side is completely fit for Tuesday’s game against Afghanistan, who are actually not a part of the SAFF zone anymore as they joined the Central Asian Zone earlier this year. They were only invited to compete.
"The girls are in proper shape and all of them deserve to start tomorrow. Now, they need to grab the opportunity with both hands and prove their worth on the field",
