After a huge 8-0 defeat against the home team Russia, the Indian U-17 world cup squad has named their first victory in Russia against the Belarus U-18 by 1-0.

As in the 68th min. the Sikkim born Indian u-17 forward Komal Thatal proved to be the difference between the two sides in a rather drab match where chances created by both teams were few.

The Indian side was engaged in early sparring with their opponents but without advantage. A drab first half, which ended with the teams going back into the tunnel with the score line reading 0-0, saw little action from both teams.

Most importantly the first real chance of the match came in the 23rd minute when the only scorer of the match Komal Thatashot straight down the opposition custodian’s throat after Boris dribbled past two defenders and found him with a through ball.

And after a tough effort from both sides, the Indian forward Komal has scored the only goal in 68th min, when Suresh played a cross from the right flank, to give his side a well deserved victory.

As the full-time score line was 1-0 in India’s favor and now Nicolai Adam’s boys will face Latvia U-18 next on January 12, 2017 in their third and final group match of the Granatkin Memorial Cup.
