The Leicester city FC star says that Arsenal tried to sign him in this transfer market as the last season, but he persists that he made the correct decision to stay at with the Foxes.

The 25 year old Algerian attacker Riyad Mahrez told that the Gunner tried to sign him in this transfer market but he was determined to stay with his club and his club the Leicester City Premier League champions refused to sell him.

This transfer window the gunners tried to bring him at the Emirates Stadium but the transfer never going to happen.

"There was contact with Arsenal," Mahrez told Canal Football Club. "But Leicester wanted to keep me and I was pretty expensive. I did not want to create a conflict when the offer came in.

"Personally, I think it is a good thing I stayed put.

"It's now up to me to prove myself again."

Few months ago the Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez has signed a new contract with the Foxes until June 2020.

In the last season he has scored 18 goals in his 39 league appearance, this season he has netted three goals in his ten games so far.
