Harry Kane Eager to Match Feat of Cristiano Ronaldo

England captain Harry Kane has stressed that he is ready for the World Cup and has claimed that he will match Cristiano Ronaldo by scoring a hat-trick.

Football news: Kane will lead England in their opening game against Tunisia on Monday

The Portugal superstar had scored a brilliant hat-trick against Spain in their opening game on Friday, and now Kane is determined to equal the feat to prove that he is one of the best strikers on the planet.

The Three Lions are placed in Group G in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and will begin their campaign against Tunisia on Monday night.

Kane believes that England will go a long way in the tournament and on a personal level he wishes to become the first Englishman to win the World Cup’s Golden Boot since Gary Lineker, who had won it in 1986.

Kane said, “The last few years I’ve proved it. And now I’m here, and can’t wait to get out there and show the world what I’ve got.

“For sure, he’s (Ronaldo) put me under a bit of pressure! He’s a fantastic player who had a fantastic game, but it’s about concentrating on the team.

“Hopefully I will score a hat-trick tomorrow and we’ll be level. But it’s not something I’ll be thinking about until later in the tournament.”

When England reached their training base in Repino last week, they were welcomed with a golden samovar tea-urn, for which there were many social media posts trolling Kane that it is his first trophy of his career.

Kane has not yet won any major awards under Mauricio Pochettino in Tottenham as well as for his country. However he has been the winner of the Golden Boot in Premier League for two consecutive seasons.

When asked about the posts on social media, Kane said, “Hopefully so. Obviously I see a few of the jokes going round on social media. It is what it is.

“I’ve got a lot of scoring trophies in my career. I’d like to be sitting here with a big gold one in a few weeks. It’s all fun and games on social media.”

Kane is desperate to get a flying start against Tunisia as he wants all his teammates to restore the national pride after their disastrous Euro 2016 campaign where they were knocked out in the first knockout stage by tiny Iceland.

“We can’t wait to get started and obviously all the fans back home watching, we want to make them proud," he said. "We want to fight for them, win for them and that’s what we play football for. I’m just really excited to get going now."

Kane also admitted that all the preparations are up to the mark, however he later added, "It's about doing it on the pitch first and foremost."
