Injured Prithvi Shaw Likely To Return For Melbourne Test

The four-match Test series between Australia and India will begin from tomorrow at Adelaide Oval. However young sensation Prithvi Shaw will not be a part of the Adelaide Test.

He will even not feature in the Perth Test and is likely to return in the Melbourne Test. Prithvi twisted his ankle in India’s warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI at Sydney Cricket Ground.

The cricketer from Mumbai screeched in pain and couldn’t even stand on his feet. As a result he had to be carried off the park.

Prithvi might heave a sigh of relief as he might make a return in the third Test at Melbourne which begins on December 26, Wednesday.

Everyone is eager to see how Shaw performs in Australia

The head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri, sounded very confident with the way the youngster made progress in recovering. In an interview to cricket.com.au, Shastri said:

It was heartbreaking to see him go down. But the good thing is he’s recovering quickly. He’s already started walking. Hopefully, if we can get him to run a bit by the weekend, that’s really good signs. With youth on his side, there might just be a case where he might recover quicker. We’ll make a call as and when we get closer to Perth.

Shaw had a wonderful warm-up game with the bat, as he scored 66 runs from 69 balls which included 11 boundaries.

The 19-year-old batsman had the highest strike-rate among all the other players. This showed Prithvi’s fearless approach to the game of cricket. He eventually got out to leg-break bowler Daniel Fallins.

Prithvi made his debut in international Test cricket against the Windies just a couple of months ago. In the first Test itself at SCA Stadium in Rajkot, he made his maiden Test century.

He didn’t disappoint in the second Test at Hyderabad of the two-match Test series as well. Prior to the Windies series, he received his national Test call-up in England for the last two Tests of the series. However he did not get an opportunity to show his talent with the bat in England.
