De Rossi Feels Ronaldo Move Will Not Give Juventus Success

Roma rival Daniele De Rossi feels that Juventus might include €100 million (£88m/$117m) Cristiano Ronaldo to their squad, but it would not guarantee the Bianconeri success.

Football news: Juventus eyes more success by signing Portuguese superstar

Juventus, who is the reigning Serie A Champion, is set to complete the signing of five-time Ballon d’Or winner on Monday after the 33-year-old former Madrid man complete his fitness test in Turin.

Juventus has won seven consecutive domestic titles and with the inclusion of Ronaldo to their squad, they now hope that the superstar will help them to secure Champions League honours.

However De Rossi has warned the Allianz Stadium fans that they would not achieve everything by merely signing an all-time great as Ronaldo needs time to settle down in the new surroundings.

The experienced midfielder said in an interview to Roma TV, “It’s a benefit for Italy, but above all for Juve who have signed him.

“They will start [the season] two or three steps ahead. Winning seven Scudetti means you’re doing things well. It means you’ve cracked the league.

“Buying one of the top two players in the world means aiming even higher, but he’ll have to adapt and the team will have to adapt to him.

“Not everything is written, even if they’re a team who already had the advantage of being better than everyone else.

“Now, with him, the objective is the Champions League, but it’s not written that they’ll win in Europe, just as it isn’t that they’ll win another league.”

Ronaldo had won three Premier League titles along with a Champions League trophy during his stay at Manchester United. He then went to Real Madrid and won two La Liga crowns along with four Champions League titles.

Juve will hope their marquee addition provides them with huge profits in the 2018-19 season, but its rivals in the likes of Roma, Napoli, Inter and AC Milan would give Juve huge competition.
