The Spanish giant Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of La Liga to five points, as they won 2-1 against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
The French international and Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema scored the first goal of the match as Real Madrid’s star forward Cristiano Ronaldo found space down the left and crossed for the 29-year-old forward Benzema to put it past goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, which was later equalized by the Basque Country international and Athletic Bilbao forward Aritz Aduriz after the Real Madrid shot stopper Keylor Navas had made a wonderful save from Inaki Williams.
But the 25-year-old Brazil international and Real Madrid defensive midfielder Casemiro struck back within a few minutes as Ronaldo flicked the ball on at the near post from a set piece to score the winner for Zinedine Zidane side.
And now Real Madrid are taking the top of La Liga table with five points different than the defending champions FC Barcelona, who are currently standing at the second of the table with 60 points.
And Barcelona can close the gap again when they face Valencia on Sunday.
