Neymar not to stay in the post of captain of Brazil after leading the team to first ever football gold medal in Olympic games 2016

Brazil won their first ever football gold medal in Olympic games in 2016. Led by Barcelona star Neymar, they are able to grab their maiden medal. Neymar decided not to continue the role of captaincy further on the field.

"Today I have been proclaimed a champion and I hand over the armband as captain," said Neymar to SporTV.

"I was something I received with honour and love. It was an honour to be captain, but from today I am no longer captain."

"I send the message to Tite that from now he can look for another captain," added the Barcelona star.

Olympic coach of Rogerio Micale said that Neymar did a “noble” work.

"It was a noble gesture on Neymar's part to leave it up to Tite," said Micale.

"We had this discussion and it wasn't public at the time before. I decided I wanted him to be captain, he was the best person to be captain for the team.
