The young and fearless Aizawl FC boys continued their home win run in the I-League 2017 as they defeated the Chennai based I league club Chennai City FC on Saturday after defeating the high flying I league giant East Bengal FC.

On Saturday, Aizawl put in a dominant display and created a host of chances in the first half, but failed to convert into the goal as they lacked finishing prowess.

However, in the 53rd minute, Bayi Kamo Stephane of Aizawl found fellow forward Brandon Vanlalremdika's unmarked run in the box and fed him a perfect chip that he made no mistake in converting it to goal and scored the only goal of the match to give Aizawl FC another home victory.

Despite conceding the only goal of the match, Chennai City FC’s shot stopper Karanjit Singh had a nice day under the bar as he cleared a nice header from Aizawl FC defender Zohmingliana Ralte in the 17th minute. He also saved a shot by Md Al Amna later.

The home side Aizawl FC could have won by a bigger scoreline, but it was Chennai City’s shot stopper Karanjit’s fine performance as he did two more brilliant saves at the end of first half and in the 82nd minute.

In one of the few raids into the rival citadel, Chennai's Charles Desuza, set up by Denson Devdas, reached almost near the box but was blocked by an Aizawl defender.

Now the young and fearless highlanders are standing 2nd in the table with twenty-three points from eleven matches, while Chennai City FC stop to the ninth position in the table with eight points from eleven matches.
