IPL 2019 Auction Will Be Held At a Brand New Venue

The auction for the star-studded action of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will likely take place at a completely brand new location this year.

Cricket news: Instead of two days, the auction will now be held for one day

The previous auctions of all the past years were held at Bengaluru, but this year according to some reports the auction is slated to take place in Goa.

Although every year the auction is held in the month of January or February, but this year it has been preponed to the month of December. Moreover this year’s is not a mega affair as most of the team already have a set of players and will only look for those who will be released.

Previous year the auction was held on the last week of January, but according to a report from ESPN Cricinfo, this year the auction will likely be held on 16 December.

The auction of IPL 2019 will be held for one day compared to the two-day event in 2018. Ben Stokes was the most expensive player of the auction who was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for a whooping amount of Rs 12.5 crores.

In the off-season transfer window, Royal Challengers Bangalore sold Quinton de Kock to three-times IPL champions Mumbai Indians. De Kock was the first-choice keeper for RCB, but did not feature after he went home for a friend’s wedding. In his place Parthiv Patel played for the last six games.

To adjust the price, Mumbai Indians have released Mustafizur Rahman and Akila Dananjaya. The Bangladeshi pacer took seven wickets from seven games before getting injured which led him to miss the subsequent T20I series against Afghanistan.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) then decided to ban Mustafizur from playing in foreign T20 leagues for next two years. On the other hand, Dananjaya played just one game and was way expensive as he gave away 47 runs off his quota of four overs.
