Umesh Yadav Prevents Injury Scare As He Slips In His Delivery Stride

Team India was handed a severe blow when their star opener Prithvi Shaw suffered a massive twist in his left ankle. The visitors were playing a warmup game against the Cricket Australia XI in Sydney.

Prithvi was rushed to the hospital and reports revealed that he would be out for the first Test. The visitors would have been in deep trouble if their pacer Umesh Yadav had also been injured.

The incident happened on Thursday during the second over of CA XI’s innings. The hosts were to handle a tricky situation of four overs before stumps.

Mohammed Shami opened the bowling for India and Umesh Yadav was handed the new ball from the other end. Umesh started his run-up and when he was about to bowl his delivery, his back leg slipped.

A lot of rain in Sydney had made the area near the crease wet, and that could’ve cost India another injury. But thankfully Umesh didn’t sustain any injury and continued bowling.

The visitors have out a total of 358 runs on the board, but their bowlers failed to get their lines straight. CA XI’s openers Max Bryant and D’Arcy Short added quick 114 runs in less than 19 overs before they lost their first wicket.

Indian spinner Ravi Ashwin handed his team the breakthrough before Shami got into his groove. The pacer took three wickets as he sent back Short, Jake Carder and Jonathan Merlo. Umesh also joined the party and took the wicket of opposition skipper Sam Whiteman.

CA XI were reduced to 234/6 from 213/2 at one stage. However the lower order again troubled the visitors as they made a century stand for the seventh wicket and ended the day on 356/6.
