Pant Wants To Perform In Front Of Chennai

Indian Premier League has become the supply line for the national team for many seasons. The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League has shown the national selectors that there are plenty of wicketkeepers in the country standing in line after MS Dhoni.

Cricket news: Although the match is a dead rubber fixture, yet Pant wants to build his reputation in front of the former Indian skipper

The IPL is coming to its business end and there will now be some inconsequential matches whose results will not affect the league table. But performance in those matches would be taken into account as it can be an audition place for the next generation of cricketing talents.

Such is a match between Chennai Super Kings, who are currently at the second spot, and Delhi Daredevils, who are already out of the playoff race.

But the match will be important for 20-year-old Rishabh Pant, who has currently 582 runs, and will be batting in front of 37-year-old MS Dhoni, who still holds himself in a place of dominance in the international cricket.

After the 2015 World Cup ended certain murmurs began to rise that Dhoni’s stroke-making ability is diminishing, and hence there started an urge for his replacement.

This IPL was a test for young wicketkeeper-batsman like Pant, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and it got tougher with the inclusion of Dinesh Karthik and KL Rahul, with all of them performing extremely well.

Even Dhoni, back in his yellow CSK shirt, have shown glimpses of his brute power and replied his critics with his bat that he is not yet finished.

Delhi will have nothing to lose from the fixture, but Chennai would love to win the game to stay in the top-two. The Delhi boy Pant’s familiarity with Kotla surface and Delhi’s nothing-to-lose attitude can put up a fascinating fight.

However there will always be one person who will always look over Pant’s shoulder and try to figure out his game and choke him with on-field strategies. That person will be none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
