5 Overseas Players Who Might Go Unsold In the 2019 IPL Auction

If an IPL team can find the right balance between their four overseas players, they can do wonders in the tournament. They have got the capabilities to take the game away from the opposition.

Over the years the fans have witnessed the capabilities of the overseas players. But if there is a wrong in the selection process, everything can go to doom.

Many matches are already being played by the time a franchise finds their right team combination. There is always a process of experimentation going on.

Like all the previous seasons, the franchises this year have also decided to leave out some of the foreign players from their squad. Some of these players would grab huge prices, while some might go unsold.

Here is the list of 5 such foreign players who might go unsold in the upcoming 2019 auction:

1. Mark Wood

Chennai Super Kings released Brother Mark, as he was fondly called in the team, ahead of the auction of 2019. The pacer from England often hurries batsmen with his pace and steep bounce.

These were the main weapons of Mark’s bowling. But he could not perform to his full potential in the Indian conditions. The pitches in India don’t offer a great deal of bounce and don’t assist much to the pacers.

Wood played just a solitary game for CSK against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, where he gave away 49 runs and failed to pick any wickets.

Moreover the England’s Cricket Board (ECB) has set up some norms regarding the participation of English players in the IPL. These reasons might sum up and make Wood an unsold player in the auction.
