Kohli Eyes Record of Inzamam-ul-Haq in Second Test against The Windies

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has now made a habit to break record whenever he comes to bat against any opposition on the field.

Cricket news: Kohli is currently the fourth highest century-maker for his country

He smashed many records during the England tour and after returning home, he played just one inning against the Windies where he made some more records which saw him finish next to the legendary batsman Don Bradman.

Kohli has yet some more records to break when he leads his team during the second Test against the Windies which begins from October 12.

India has already won the first Test by a massive margin of an innings and 272 runs and are the favourites to win the second Test against a hapless Caribbean side.

Kohli scored his 24th Test century during the Rajkot Test and is the second fastest to do so after the legendary Don Bradman. He also became the first batsman to successfully complete 1000 runs for three consecutive years.

He has surpassed Virender Sehwag and is currently the fourth highest Test century-maker for India, behind the legendary trio of Sachin Tendulkar (51), Rahul Dravid (36) and Sunil Gavaskar (34).

However presently he has got the chance to overcome the record of former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who played from 1992 to 2007 and is currently the chief selector of the Pakistan national team.

Inzamam has 25 Test centuries to his name behind Younis Khan (34), who is the highest Test century-maker for Pakistan. However Inzi took 120 Tests to achieve that feat while Virat will be playing his 73rd Test in Hyderabad.

Inzamam has scored 8830 Test runs at an average of 49.60 while Virat Kohli has still now made 6286 Test runs at an average of 54.66.

He is jointly tied with Australia’s Greg Chappell, Pakistan’s Mohammad Yousuf and Windies’ Sir Viv Richards currently in the list of highest Test century-makers. Virat, who will turn 30 next month, is also five Test centuries short of Don Bradman, who has 29 Test centuries to his name from 52 games.
