MS Dhoni Praises Virat Kohli for His Leadership Attributes

Current Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been a total run machine for India from the moment he debuted for his country in 2008 and his stature has since been growing.

Cricket news: It is important to bowl out the opposition to win a Test, says Dhoni

He is currently leading the Indian contingent in the five-match Test series against England and has started the series with a stupendous personal knock.

Kohli scored 149 in the first innings and 51 in the second innings in the first Test of the series held at Edgbaston, as he scored his first century on English soil.

Although his knocks could not evade a 31-run defeat, yet he achieved the No. 1 rank in ICC Test rankings for batsmen as he became the first Indian to reach the spot since Sachin Tendulkar in 2011.

Recently the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has praised the captaincy qualities of Kohli and has said that he is indeed delighted with Virat.

“Virat is the best. He has reached a status where he is close to legend status. I am very happy for him. The way he has batted everywhere and the last few years he has been brilliant taking the team forward. That’s what you want from a leader. All the best to him and very well done,” Dhoni was quoted as saying at an event in Mumbai.

Dhoni also appreciated the way the bowlers have bowled in the first innings as they took all the 20 wickets of the opposition. Dhoni has stressed on the importance of taking all the wickets in order to win the game.

“To win a Test match you need 20 wickets. And we did that. That’s all I will say. It doesn’t matter how well you bat and how well you are there for five days but if you take 20 wickets, you can win a Test match,” the Jharkhand-born cricketer added.

Although England are currently leading the series 1-0, India will have a good chance to bounce back in the second Test which will be played at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground and will begin from August 9.
