BCCI Invites an Important Person for Historic Test

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all ready to gear up for the historic one-off Test match between India and Afghanistan which will begin from June 14 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Cricket news: BCCI is looking for possibilities to conduct future tours with the Afghans

To discuss about the Test match, BCCI has sent a delegation to Kabul along with the acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary, who will present the plans of possibility for future tours.

Moreover the delegation has not only talked about the future tours and programmes but also invited Ashraf Ghani, the President of Afghanistan, to Bengaluru to witness the Test match first-hand.

Because of Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan’s rise in popularity, the External Affairs Minister of India had previously offered Rashid citizenship to the country.

Later Sushma Swaraj said that choosing nationality of a country is entirely a personal choice. The Afghanistan President has also said that Rashid will always belong to Afghanistan.

The delegation met the Afghanistan President along with Atif Mashal, the chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), on Tuesday to discuss about the future bilateral relations and cricketing developments between the two countries.

“During the meeting, the BCCI officials invited the President for the historic match. The trip is about the strong bond between the two countries,” said a well-placed source as quoted by Sportstar.

The office of the President has confirmed that the meeting did take place but has remained silent on whether the President will travel to Bengaluru to witness the historic Test or not.

Afghanistan will definitely try to make a memorable debut as the Indian side will come in without their regular skipper Virat Kohli, who is side-lined because of a neck injury.

Moreover the experience gained by Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan while playing in the Indian Premier League will prove handy as the Indian batsmen had previously struggled to read them on number of occasions.
