Bell Ringers for The Lord’s Test Has Been Announced

It has become a tradition from 2007 to ring the bell located outside the Bowler’s Bar of the Lord’s pavilion to be rung before the commencement of the day’s play.

Cricket news: From India, Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri has been invited to do the honours

The second Test in the five-match Test series between India and England is scheduled to begin from August 9 in the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The hosts are already beaming with confidence as they had won the first Test at Edgbaston by 31 runs and are leading the series 1-0.

Recently it has been come to news that Indian legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been invited to ring the five-minute bell ahead of the start of the first day’s play.

When Tendulkar was approached with the invite, he gleefully accepted it. It is also reported that India’s coach Ravi Shastri is invited to do the honours on the third day, but no official confirmation from Shastri has yet come.

The 82-year-old former English all-rounder Ted Dexter will ring the bell on the second day while the fast bowler of England’s women’s team Anya Shrubsole will ring the bell on fourth day.

Shrubsole, who has the best figures of 9.4-0-46-6 against Mitali Raj’s India at Lord’s in last year final of Women’s World Cup, is also the first woman to appear on Wisden’s Cricket Almanac.

The name of all the dignitaries was announced by Hugo Barnard, the official administrator at Lord’s. It is not yet announced who will ring the bell on the fifth day.

“India has so far contributed six bell ringers. The list of Indian players include Sunil Gavaskar, late MAK Pataudi, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid, Kapil Dev and Sourav Ganguly,” Adam Mathews, the Media and Communications Officer at Lord’s, was quoted as saying in Deccan Chronicle.

Kohli’s men will look to capitalise on the underwhelming record of England at Lord’s in recent times and level the series.
