3 Players Rajasthan Royals Should Target In the Upcoming 2019 IPL Auction

The preparation of the 12th edition of the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL) has already started as the date of auction has been announced, which is to be held on 18 December.

The franchises have already submitted their list of retained and released players. They will now be looking to fill the remaining important slots left in their respective squads.

Rajasthan Royals have retained a total of 16 players which includes the likes of Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler. With remaining purse of Rs. 20.95 crores and 10 players’ slot left, the franchise will likely enter a bidding wat to secure one top player during the auction.

Here is the list of 3 such players who can be a top target for the Royals:

1. Axar Patel

The spinner was the only player who was retained by Kings XI Punjab before the start of 2018 season. But he failed to perform well as he took only 3 wickets from 9 games and scored only 80 runs with the bat.

He was released this year because of his failures. Moreover his recent injuries did not help the cause. However he can be great asset for the Royals, as they currently lack a good left-arm spinner.

The Royals have released Afghanistan’s Zahir Khan and can now look to get Axar’s services for the upcoming season. They only have Ish Sodhi, who will definitely not play all the matches because of their four strong overseas contingent.

With Axar’s addition to the team, the middle order can also get a boost as Axar can be very handy with the willow down the order.
