MS Dhoni Was Informed To Move On and Give His Place to a Youngster

When the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman and former skipper of India, MS Dhoni, was left out of the T20I squads against the Windies and Australia, it came as a huge shock to the entire cricketing fraternity.

Cricket news: The former skipper of India is having a poor form with the bat recently

For over a decade the whole Indian team was built keeping Dhoni at the center. So it is almost a blasphemy to leave him out of the shortest format. However the reality is that the current MSD is just a shadow of his past, who could smash fours and sixes at will.

The present Dhoni takes a lot of time to settle at the crease, which does not please his fans and the experts. Moreover he does not do much to contribute to the team’s score.

However MSD has a special place in everyone’s heart as he is the one who pulled Indian cricket out of its sorry times after the failure in the 2007 World Cup and won the T20 World Cup that very same year.

He also helped the team to clinch the CB Series in Australia and also brought the World Cup back home after 28 years in 2011. The team completed its dominance under Dhoni when they won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.

However those times have changed and so is Dhoni’s abilities. Hence the selectors have decided to drop him for the next six T20Is and give his place to a youngster, keeping in mind that Dhoni might not feature in the team when the next T20 World Cup arrives, which is just two years away.

While many debated of his T20I career coming to an end, a recent report from the Indian Express have surfaced that Dhoni was previously informed through the team management that the selectors are dropping him for the upcoming T20I series.

“The selectors before selection meeting had informed Dhoni through the team management that time has come to move on and give a chance to a younger player in the shortest format. Everyone knows that Dhoni might not carry on till 2020 T20 World Cup. Selectors felt the Indian board should start looking for Dhoni’s replacement from now on,” a BCCI source mentioned.

After getting heavily involved in Chennai Super Kings’ title-winning return to the IPL, Dhoni had failed to contribute much to the national side and was once booed during an India-England ODI at Lord’s because of his ‘lack of intent’ at the crease.
