No Jasprit Bumrah in the Lord’s Test As Well

India had a disappointing start to the five-match Test series as they lost the first Test held at Edgbaston by 31 runs.

Cricket news: Bumrah has not played a single game against England in this tour

They were hoping to mount a huge comeback in the second Test which is scheduled to begin from August 9 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

But their hopes were severely dented by the news that their fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will again not be available for the second Test.

Bumrah had suffered an injury to the left thumb while playing in the first T20I game against Ireland at Malahide Cricket Ground in Dublin.

He underwent a surgery and was quickly recovering and had also started his practice in the nets. But recently India’s bowling coach, Bharat Arun, has confirmed that Bumrah will not be available.

“Jasprit Bumrah is bowling fit right now but I think it’s too early to put him into a game-like situation because, I think, he needs to come out of the band-aid/plaster on his hand. For the second Test, he is out of contention,” confirmed Bharat Arun, India’s bowling coach on Tuesday (August 7).

Indian bowlers were good in the first Test and Bumrah’s inclusion would have been a massive boost. Bumrah was selected in the squad for the first three Test matches before the beginning of the series.

India has been marred with injuries right from the beginning of the tour. Their main pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not even included in the squad for the first three Tests because of his back injury.

India’s first-choice wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has been ruled out of the series due to finger injury and a persistent shoulder injury. Dinesh Karthik is playing as the first wicketkeeper while Rishabh Pant is being kept as a substitute.

India lost the first game even after remaining in a position of command. Skipper Virat Kohli scored 149 in the first innings and added 51 in the second, but failed to take his team through due to lack of support from others.
