Major clauses of Lodha Committee accepted by Supreme Court

Supreme Court accepted the major clauses put forward by Lodha Committee to reform the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) on Monday.

The Supreme Court on monday accepted the major clauses of the Lodha Committee led by retired Chief Justice of India Justice R.M Lodha to change the structures of BCCI. The committee put forward an argument that ministers and bureaucrats above 70 years of age will not be able to participate in decision changing’s of BCCI nor can be its member.

The idea is now left to the Parliament that whether this can be set
under RTI or not. It is also in the hands of the Parliament to decide
if betting on cricket should be legalised.

Supreme Court rejected the words against recommendation of  one-state-one-vote, saying that States like Gujrat and Maharastra
having two or more cricket association will have voting rights on
a rotational basis.

"It is Great day for Indian cricket and Indian sports,I think cricket fans should rejoice the verdict of Supreme Court. I am sure that with the decision of Supreme Court out, BCCI will have the recommendations implemed at the earliest, I really think this will lead to reforms in other sports as well." said retired chief justice of India Justice R M Lodha.
